Did an all day fly fishing trip with Noah today and we caught many rainbows and browns of significant size. He is an excellent guide and an even better teacher. I could not recommend a flyfishing trip with Noah more. If you want to learn to fly fish, do yourself a favor and book a trip with Noah from straight line outdoor sports.

He was an amazing instructor, meeting us where we were and was happy to answer my many questions.

I had a full day in mid-November on the Yampa with Straightline Sports head guide Steve Henderson that was excellent. I fished private waters of a beautiful ranch with pastures on both sides of the water. Steve is a guide who helps you think about flyfishing techniques and why you do something so that you understand and not just follow instructions. I caught substantial sized rainbows and browns in an off peak time of the year with over a foot of snow on the ground, below freezing when we started. I highly recommend a day or more on the water with Steve, you won't regret it. Great day with a seasoned fly fishing guide.

My family did a half day fishing trip with Patrick. We had an amazing time. The fish were hitting on all three stretches we cast. Beautiful German Browns, Rainbows, and Rocky Mountain White were causing by all three of us. Patrick was a great guide who took the time to make sure this first time fly fisher had the correct cast.

guides are great. retail help is worthless! went in on a Friday evening 10/4/24 looking or a rod for my wife and some advice, maybe book a guide trip. 2 younger guys in the back over a box socializing (not stocking at same time?) didn't acknowledge us. looked around for a few minutes, on way out front, young girl looking at her phone behind counter was too busy too. didn't even notice her on way in! I'll go elsewhere if I want help. only reason got 2 stars is for trips we booked in past

Straightline has a great shopping selection and great fishing guides, but lacks in how much they value their customers. I booked two half day fishing trips this past summer with them and I enjoyed my time fishing. However, when I initially booked my trips, they lost my bookings. Thankfully they got me rebooked and I didn't have to cancel on my guests. The real surprise was when I got to the register and they ran my credit card for over $1000 over my quoted price and that was before tips, on a trip that was supposed to cost less than $1000. Despite multiple attempts to discuss this with the store owner nothing was done or offered to correct the problem. The owner felt it was justified since I caught fish. If you are looking to go on a guided trip I'd recommend Steamboat Flyfisher.

Stopped by here to hear about some fly fishing gear and was pleasantly surprised with how knowledgeable and passionate the staff member was about the sport. He was eager to share his experience and suggestions on where to start with someone new to the hobby and wasn't overly pushy or focused on the sales aspect since we were new to the scene. Store looked to be well stocked with a wide variety of items.
