We pulled in and the office was closed for lunch, and everything we needed was in a basic. The camp host then came down and introduced herself and we checked in a few hours later.

Park is like the original Sun city by DelWebb, and only be 50 we were young and welcome. However we shut down by 9PM and so did the park which was great.

We were concerned about about security given what is now metro Phoenix, but didn’t have any issues and seemed the administration was quick to resolve any oddities.

Few tips: Trash pickup is Tuesday and Friday mornings; free ice(it is great filtered ice), free coffee (i think all day). DVD / Library, covered pool was very nice.

We will certainly book again.

We love this 55 + RV Resort. The location is ideal for exploring the entire valley. It's close to shopping and restaurants. The pool, pool area and restrooms are very clean ! The staff works hard to maintain the park like grounds and friendly atmosphere. There are many activities you can enjoy including live music events, pickle ball and bingo. I've traveled across the country a number of times over the years and always come back to Desert Shadows.

The sites are gravel, pull through, full hook up, wide open, which is good for satellite reception.
Mostly residential park model housing.
It is hard to find since it has almost an invisible sign outside the park so look out.
Friendly management.
It is plain and simple.
It has a pool.

Awful experience. Terrible ownership; like an HOA on steroids. You're not allowed any family visits. Save yourself an enormous amount of expense and heartache and cross this place off your list.

THEY ACCUSED ME OF LYING! On the initial email reservation inquiry, I said I had 4 dogs I’d like to bring. These are small medium dogs, well trained, canine good citizen certification, ex show dogs, spayed and neutered. I was honest. Return voicemail said they had a limit of 2 dogs. (I could not find this published anywhere on their site). I called back to discuss and assure them I’d board 2 dogs at home and only bring 2 dogs to comply with their rules. They would not accept a reservation because they said I would be lying. Terrible customer service and discrimination, penalized for my initial naive honesty.

There are lots of permanent residences here and a few rows of rentals. The park is older but well kept up. There is virtually no grass (my dog didn’t like that fact!) and the internet service is an experiment right now that they are having us rate (very intermittent service). One can get lots of antenna tv channels, but no cable. There is a nice indoor pool and spa and the exercise room and library are above average. There is a billiard room and game room used mostly by permanent residences.

The site that we were put in was very small. In between 2 park models. Most of their amenities were a joke. Their idea of darts is not on a dart board playing real darts like 301 or cricket. They throw at a square board with baseball bases. And the same with the pool tables, they play baseball here too, no 8 ball or 9 ball. Now let's talk about the pool and jacuzzi. There's a sign that says if you're incontinent, please wear rubber pants. lol 85% of the people here are in there later years. I saw no one in rubber pants. Think about that for a minute ?. Now the laundry room at least 6 dryers don't work. 2 of them run, but don't dry. 4 washing machines just don't work. There's no out of order signs. But they still take your money. I talked to the owner (he's a real treat), and he told me that every time they're fixed, they break again. And as for some out of order signs, people just take them home. Must be a big run on out of order signs in Phoenix. On a positive note, the office staff is great. But their hands are tied to fix things it's the owners responsibility.

The camping spot has been amazing. The people at the front desk in the office were very sweet. The park is very clean and well maintained. Definitely recommend if you come out here to stay here if they have spaces open.
