Backcountry

I do not generally write reviews, however a remarkable level of abysmal customer service has led me to leave this review. I used to shop regularly at Backcountry, however I recently purchased a pair of size 11 men's shoes which were the same length as size 8.5 men's shoes. The customer service involved telling me that the shoes ran small. A pair of shoes 2.5 sizers smaller than the stated size is not "running small" - that is a defect in the sizing of the product. The customer service agent simply ended the conversation there. When I complained, I got the same customer service agent - Fernando - who just said they could not be returned. Why would they have the same agent respond to a complaint about the agent? Unfortunately, I used PayPal for the purchase so cannot refuse payment. However, I will never use their service again, and I hope you do not either.

The store is relatively small and doesn't offer much selection like REI or similar retailers. But what's worse is the brand - I've opened a warranty claim in August, and 6 weeks later it's still being handled where their responses usually arrive after 2-3 weeks. Save yourself the trouble and money, go elsewhere everyone has better customer service.

Cool little outdoors shop. Like a mid sized REI with all the usual outdoor brands.

A great new addition at Stanford mall and to sports and outdoor equipment in the peninsula. They may not have a lot of salesperson compared to REI but I’m glad they finally have a physical store here in the Bay Area.

Wish they would stop spamming me. I have unsubscribed multiple times. Will never shop here again because of it.

Trying to order something from your website, rediculous shipping costs $425!

Good selection and merchandizing, prices at the high end.
