When I was still on my parents insurance, I knew I needed psychological help and i'd finally worked up the courage to ask. They always bugged me about getting a job and going to school since 13 or so. I was just so depressed sometimes I couldn't do anything.

My parents convinced me that she was a good psychologist that took our insurance. I talked about what was going on and hoped to at least get a recommendation for what was wrong with me and a psychiatrist that could prescribe medicine and help take care of this. All she ever really talked about was getting a job so the last day I got so tired of it I told her some personal things.

She finally recommended someone that could help me with medication. I said thank you and she tried to set up an appointment for next week. I told her I'd probably not be coming back and that made her visibly frustrated/ mad. She asked again in a angry tone so I told her I would not be coming back. She threw open the door and yelled at me "well leave then blah blah blah" and slammed it behind me.

I told my dad about it and didn't say who it was that it happened to and he asked "who did that to who?" Like it was unbelievable. I told him it was her and me to which he just said "oh" like it was no big deal. Well the experience bogged me down. I thought something was funny when she didn't try to help me and I had asked if we would do group therapy with my whole family and she said no (she was supposed to help us communicate/ get along better or something).

She made me feel useless and like everything was my fault. I never called her recommendation because I was afraid they would be like her or a friend of hers. I didn't talk to a regular psychologist or psychiatrist for years after that. She broke confidentiality with me because my mom has a big mouth and told me about it. She told my parents things i'd said that were supposed to stay between us.

Honestly not the only unprofessional professional i've learned of or had to deal with in life since then. People really should be more careful who they seek help from because those are the ones that we allow to do the most damage.
