Wonderful customer service. The staff is knowledgeable with the products they sell. I am new to backpacking, and they were very helpful with fitting me with a backpack a few months ago. Today, the staff helped me with picking out a tent. I was able to try four different style tents that they set up for me right there in the store. I brought in my air mattress and backpack to get a good feel of space in the tent. They have lots of choices to choose from. Support your local businesses that welcome you like family. Thanks again. I like this store mainly for the outdoor clothing. I have gotten some great stuff. I also like camping equipment, I've upgraded alot of my traditional camping equipment. It's nice to see it before you buy it.

Writing this on the heels of a women-only guided hike lead by the store's certified hiking guide, Meegana. I purchased almost every piece of gear here because the team is amazing. They've used the equipment, they know what they are talking about and you will never second guess your purchase.
Meegana is the only certified hiking guide in Virginia and we are beyond fortunate to have her right here in Fredericksburg.
I've also rented SUP and Kayaks here and our family has enjoyed our experience every time.

I absolutely love this shop! It is my go-to store for most of my outdoor needs. River Rock has also helped me by providing me an outlet to divest myself of gear which no longer fits (lost a lot of weight) or i no longer use through its reboot program. I had a very positive experience buying a backpack online through their used gear program. It was on consignment but functionally new with tags. I called the store to get more info on the pack before ordering and their staff was more than helpful. They answered all my questions and provided me with extra information. I wish I lived closer so I could visit the store in person. The customer service for online orders was top notch. Shipping was extermely fast.
